Custom Order – Q & A
What is the custom order process?
Every custom piece begins with a conversation.
- Initial Inquiry
You may start by sharing reference images, sketches, or a general idea of what you’re looking for. This helps us understand your vision, preferred silhouette, and overall mood. - Design Discussion
We will discuss design details, construction approach, fabric options, timeline, and budget before moving forward. - Pattern Making
Once the design is confirmed, pattern drafting begins.
Custom pattern drafting starts at $100, which includes one muslin fitting. - Muslin Fitting
A muslin fitting allows us to test the fit and structure before cutting into final fabric. - Garment Construction & Final Fitting
After adjustments are made, the final garment is constructed, followed by a final fitting to ensure everything is perfect.
Can you recreate a design from another brand or designer?
You are welcome to provide reference images.
However, we do not copy or replicate another designer’s work exactly.
We can create a very similar design inspired by your reference while adjusting details, construction, or proportions to ensure originality.
Any differences between the reference and the final design will be clearly discussed and agreed upon during the design stage.
What is a muslin fitting?
A muslin is a test version of your garment made from inexpensive fabric.
It allows us to:
- Check fit and proportions
- Test structural elements
- Make necessary adjustments before using final materials
Your custom pattern fee includes one muslin fitting.
What if I need more changes after the first fitting?
Minor adjustments after the first muslin fitting are included.
If additional fittings or major changes are requested beyond what was initially discussed, additional fees will apply, depending on the complexity of the changes.
Will there be a fitting after the final garment is completed?
Yes.
Once the final garment is completed, a final fitting is required to ensure fit, comfort, and overall finish.
How are handwork and embellishments priced?
Handwork such as:
- Beading
- Embroidery
- Hand-finishing
- Other decorative techniques
is charged separately at $25/hour, in addition to the garment construction fee.
Are materials included in the price?
No.
Materials are not included in the labor cost.
Fabric, trims, lace, boning, beads, and other materials are charged separately and depend entirely on the client’s selection.
Material costs can vary significantly based on availability and quality.
Materials must be paid in full before production begins, or provided directly by the client.
What is the deposit policy?
- A 30% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your custom order and production time.
- If the client chooses to discontinue the project after work has begun, the deposit is non-refundable.
- Material costs are also non-refundable once purchased.
How long does a custom order take?
Timelines vary depending on design complexity, materials, and current workload.
Estimated timelines will be discussed and confirmed before production begins.
Do you accept rush orders?
Rush orders may be accepted depending on availability and project complexity.
If a rush order is approved, a rush fee will apply.
Rush fees vary based on the timeline and workload and will be confirmed before production begins.
Please note that accepting a rush order does not compromise craftsmanship or construction standards.
What happens if my size or measurements change during the process?
Custom garments are made based on the measurements provided and confirmed at the time of pattern drafting.
If the client’s measurements change during production, additional alteration or re-patterning fees may apply, depending on the extent of the changes required.
We strongly recommend maintaining stable measurements throughout the production period.
Can I provide my own fabric or materials?
Yes, clients may provide their own materials.
However, The Enchanted House is not responsible for the performance, durability, or final appearance of client-provided materials.
Issues such as fabric defects, shrinkage, color variation, or incompatibility with the design are the client’s responsibility.
Additional labor required due to material-related issues will be billed accordingly.
How long do I have to confirm changes after a fitting?
After each fitting, any requested changes must be communicated within 3 business days.
Requests made after this window may result in additional fees or timeline adjustments.
Clear and timely communication ensures a smooth production process.
Are custom orders refundable?
Due to the nature of custom work:
- All custom orders are final
- Completed garments are non-refundable and non-returnable
Once production has begun, deposits and completed labor are non-refundable.
