Beginner Atelier Sewing Workshop

Heirloom-Inspired Children’s Dress Course

Learn to create a beautifully finished children’s dress in a small studio setting while building confidence in garment construction and sewing fundamentals.

This beginner-friendly workshop is designed for students who want to move beyond simple projects and create a truly special piece from start to finish. Inspired by heirloom sewing and vintage children’s wear, this course focuses on soft ruffles, gathered tiers, decorative trim application, and clean garment finishing techniques.

Over the course of 6 weeks, students will complete a fully finished dress while learning practical sewing skills that can be applied to future projects.

Schedule: Saturdays, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Total Instruction Time: 18 Hours
Class Size: Small Group Studio Setting

Students Will Learn

Basic garment construction
Reading and working with sewing patterns
Fabric preparation and cutting
Gathering and tier construction
Applying trims and decorative details
Sewing ruffles and soft finishes
Working with lightweight fabrics and lace
Clean seam finishing techniques

In-studio instruction and guidance
Sewing machines is NOT provided for this class. Materials and tools are NOT included in the cost of this class.
A list of all the materials and tools needed can be found in the course syllubus. Please note that fabric for the first project must be purchased BEFORE the start of the first class. There is a 20% discount on all materials purchased for classes.
If you need to purchase sewing tools, you can purchase our beginner sewing kit or buy tools individually during your first class

Materials

Students may bring their own fabrics and trims, or purchase an optional curated material kit through the studio.

A supply list will be provided after registration.
